The original cookie was made by a Filipino woman (friend of my mother) in the mid-1970’s for our class party. It was thumbprint/stained glass with the dent and the jam baked in there but there was something in that cookie dough. They were the most delicious cookie. Never mind how I didn’t end up with the actual recipe, I need to find it now. Whatever the mystery ingredient is, I’ve never tasted it in a savory dish. In fact, those cookies by that woman are the only time I have ever tasted this taste. There have been times I can call that memory back vividly so I know I haven’t tasted it again.
