beef stew with hashbrowns : AskCulinary

So I am going on a multi day rafting trip at the end of June. for my group meal im doing beef stew. To save on weight i was thinking of bringing dehydrated hashbrowns to layer on top after rehydrating does this seem like a reasonable idea. The stew base would be the beef stew from serious eats. The stew itself would be frozen in advance and reheated in a dutch oven.
