Is garlic the second most used ingredient apart from salt? : AskCulinary


My mother in law eats out probably 6 days a week, but once a week I invite her over for dinner so she can visit her grandchildren and have at least one home cooked meal per week. She wants me to make everything without garlic though because “she’s allergic” although no known symptoms of her garlic allergy other than “I just don’t feel well.” Nearly everything I make has garlic in it, and looking at the restaurants she goes to she’s eating garlic all the time, so I just don’t tell her. But it got me thinking, other than salt, what ingredient do you used more than garlic?
