I bought salmon from the store and inquired about the difference between the taste of Atlantic salmon and sockeye salmon. The fish cutter told me that sockeye salmon tastes “pungent” and gave me a sample to try free of charge, which I just cooked with the Atlantic salmon I purchased.
I didn’t think it tasted pungent or particularly strong at all. If anything it had a slight sweetness to it that Atlantic salmon lacks, but it was absolutely not overbearing, didn’t taste overtly fishy, and was not “pungent” in any way.
What do others think of the taste?
