I own a small catering business and I am concerned about how to quote out catering jobs that are over a year out. In the past food cost fluctuations haven’t been an issue, but due to COVID-19 I have catering jobs that are coming up that are going to cost me a significant amount more than originally quoted a year ago. I will be lucky to break even on my next two big events. My question is to prevent this issue in the future how should I plan for such instances. I have two large jobs to quote for October of 2021 and I want to ensure I make money. Should I stipulate in the contract that if food prices increase so will the quote?
