Spicy Sauces Utilizing Solely Previous World Meals : AskCulinary

Does anyone know if any spicy sauces exist that are made entirely out of foods native to the Old World? From what I understand, the spiciest foods available to Europeans before the Columbian Exchange were horseradish and mustard. I think it’d be interesting if someone made a “salsa” out of horseradish and some Old World herbs.
